Eco School

Castleford High School – Eco-Schools Action Plan 2007-2008

Picture of Eco-Schools documents

Objective: To encourage staff and pupils to adopt a more sustainable approach to their daily life.

The Year 10 Work Related Learning Group conducted an Environmental Audit for the school.  From the Audit the recognised that Castleford High School had some very good environmental aspects (e.g. Encouraging Healthy Living, double glazing and energy saving lighting in all classrooms).  They all discovered some areas for improvement and they have set out these areas in their Eco-schools Action Plan.  The group is now planning to submit this information to the Eco-schools website: they are hoping that the school will be rewarded with a Bronze Eco-Schools Award- fingers crossed!

The first stage is to try and establish a paper recycling facility in the school to minimize the amount of waste going to landfill.  We hope to achieve this by September 2007. If you are interested in becoming involved, take some time to browse the Eco-school website and see Miss Grey if you have any ideas/suggestions.
