YEAR 8 FINAL

CASTLEFORD HIGH (Wakefield) 22
WADE DEACON (Halton) 6

Castleford High claimed their third triumph in the Carnegie Champion
Schools finals with a ruthless destruction of Wade Deacon.

Castleford led 10-0 at half time and did enough to grab the Boys' Year
Eight trophy despite coming under increasing pressure after the
interval.

Strong running from Wade Deacon's pack had given them an early
platform but Castleford held out and replied with a double blow just
before the break.

Liam Lunn, Gareth Kirk and Bradley Williamson combined to create
enough space for Kyran Johnson to open the scoring. Then Lunn barged
his way through with a double side-step to push Castleford further
clear.

George Marchant's superb pass put Williamson clear after the restart
before Jordan Gill came in off the wing to wrap up Castleford's
victory. Kieran Conroy grabbed Wade Deacon's only score after Alex
Clare's break.

Castleford captain Marchant received the Carnegie Champion Schools
Boys' Year Eight trophy from Australian Test legend Darren Lockyer.
