Final Exam (Controlled Test)
- This is worth 40% of your final GCSE.
- There is a choice of 7 questions set by the exam board.
- You choose a question that allows you to show your knowledge and skills.
- You are allowed four school weeks (8 lessons) to produce your preparatory work.
- The exam paper will be given week beginning 10th March 2008.
- Your teacher will help, support and advise you.
- You will be given deadlines, which you must meet.
- You are allowed to take your preparatory work home.
- You are expected to attend after school 1-2 hrs per week.
Preparatory Work
You are expected to produce a minimum of 10 A3 sheets, which must include the following:
- Initial research – images and information from magazines, books, the internet and/or newspapers.
- Observational drawing – high quality drawings which show off your skills, they must be linked to the question.
- Different ideas – experiment how to use your images in different ways. Add comments explaining your work.
- Experiment – explore ideas through the use of different media, techniques and processes. You must improve, change and review your work. You can do this through written comments.
- Artist link – this must include pictures of their work, information about the artist and studies of the artists work. You should add your opinions and write about how their work links to yours.
- Planning your final piece – use your preparatory work to create a range of different design ideas, for your final piece. Add comments to explain your work.
The Final Piece (10 hours)
- This will be produced over two school days with your art teacher in the art room on Thursday 24th and Friday 25th April 2008.
- The piece should be the outcome of all your preparatory work.
