HISTORY
In History pupils learn about significant individuals and events from the Romans to the twentieth century. They show their understanding by making connections between events and changes in the different periods and areas studied, and by comparing the structure of societies and economic, cultural and political developments. Pupils evaluate and use sources of information, using their historical knowledge to analyse the past and explain how it can be represented and interpreted in different ways. The following topics are studied in Key Stage 3. Year 7 Britain 1066—1500 Year 8 A World Study before 1900—Black People of the Americas A study of the growth of slavery and its effects on people in Africa, America and Europe. Attainment is measured by assessments throughout the Key Stage. These take the form of formal assessments and projects. Throughout Key Stage 3 the majority of pupils are expected to work between levels 3 and 7 with the majority achieving Level 5 or 6 at the end of the Key Stage. |
