Hockey - Performance - Acquire, Develop, Select and Apply Skills
In order for pupils to gain a sub level 'c' they must be able to complete 2 of the requirements, to gain a 'b' they must be able to complete 4 of the requirements and to gain an 'a' they must complete all requirements. 
Level Level Requirements / Descriptors
2 I can hold the stick but sometimes have my hands in the wrong position.
2 I can receive the ball but find it hard to stop it straight away using the stick.
2 I can dribble the ball but I find it hard to keep it close to my stick.
2 I can perform a push pass but it lacks power, speed and accuracy.
2 I can move to receive the ball but my feet often get in the way of the ball.
2 I can play a small sided game but often make mistakes when under pressure.
   
3 I can hold the stick correctly and show the correct stance for dribbling, passing and tackling.
3 I can dribble the ball but find it hard to maintain control at speed.
3 I can receive the ball and control it when standing still but sometimes lose control when going fast.
3 I can attempt a block tackle but sometimes fail to win the ball.
3 I can control the ball on my strong / open side of stick.
3 I can play in a game and pass the ball but sometimes am unaware of the position of my team mates.
   
4 I can perform a push pass and slap hit with increasing power and accuracy.
4 I can receive the ball and control it when standing still but sometimes lose control when going fast.
4 I can control the ball on my strong/stick side and sometimes on my reverse stick side.
4 I can perform a block tackle.
4 I can play a game showing I understand the rules relating to safety, feet, correct use of stick.
4 I can perform hit outs and hit ins and understand penalty corners.
   
5 I can push and hit the ball accurately getting my body in the correct position.
5 I can receive the ball and control it when moving.
5 I can dribble the ball at speed keeping control.
5 I can perform a block tackle, getting my feet in the correct position to make sure I don’t obstruct.
5 I can demonstrate I know when a penalty or long corner should be awarded.
5 I can play a game showing I understand the rules and can demonstrate attacking and defensive skills.
 
6 I can push and hit the ball accurately and with power, showing good technique.
6 I can receive the ball on my open and reverse stick showing control. 
6 I can dribble the ball at speed using open and reverse stick to keep control.
6 I can perform tackles using open and reverse stick effectively in a game situation.
6 I can influence the game when my team are in attack or defence.
6 I can play a game and be able to make sure the rules are followed correctly, by me and others in the game.
 
7 I can perform a push, slap hit, hit and flick with varying degrees of accuracy direction and power.
7 I can bring the ball under control quickly and efficiently.
7 I can demonstrate advanced attacking skills to include - left & right drag & chip over the stick.
7 I can demonstrate advanced defensive skills to include - the jab tackle, open & reverse side tackles & channelling.
7 I can perform skills with accuracy and speed under the pressures of the game.
7 I can play effectively in the game and can exert an influence in either attack or defence.
8 I can perform a push, slap hit, hit and flick with accuracy direction and power.
8 I can effectively pass a defender with a dodge or a well timed pass.
8 I can time my tackles and have a good success rate at winning the ball.
8 I can organise and lead a set of players in a game situation.
8 I can demonstrate support play and movement off the ball.
8 I understand all the rules of the game and can officiate to a good standard.
Exceptional performers are those who can complete all the basic and advanced skills to a outstanding level, well above what is normally recognised at school level. They are able to officiate to a high standard understanding all the rules required. They are also able to give detailed feedback to other performers, suggesting strengths and weaknesses, and concluding with how the performer can improve their performance
