Trip to Oxford

YEAR 11 AIM HIGHER RESIDENTIAL

OXFORD UNIVERSITY – 17th-18th September

Continuing our tradition of University residentials, we travelled down to St. John’s College, Oxford to experience a ‘touch’ of university life. 21 pupils and 3 staff (Mr Walls, Miss Ramsay, and Mr Goodall) attended the event which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Everyone was made welcome and on arrival were allocated their own rooms.

We were involved in certain activities such as  an icebreaker session and a talk about ‘Why University?

Later in the afternoon we had a tour of St. John’s but the highlight was the Scavenger Hunt! all around the centre of Oxford using Digital cameras for evidence.

After tea we had some free time before going to the cinema to see ‘Run, Fat Boy, Run.’

The following morning we visited the Oxford University Museum of Natural History which was amazing and some of us got to hold a huge ‘ live’ cockroach as can be seen on our photos. To finish our visit we split into 4 groups to present a Law ‘Mock Trial’ and then had our group photo.

A worthwhile visit that changed many of our views on Oxford, and university, in general.
